I was in Scotland chasing dramatic landscapes, often heading out in the wee hours so I could have places like this mostly to myself. It gives me a chance to wait and see how the light and colors unfold, and sometimes a place feels charged in a way that goes beyond the view itself.
That was the feeling at Lealt Falls. Standing there, I started thinking about time, about all the lives that might have passed through that same place, and how the past and future can sometimes feel strangely close. That kind of thinking usually opens the door to something else for me, scale, distance, strange worlds, the sense that the landscape is brushing up against something larger and less explainable. The spheres came out of that shift in perception, as if something luminous was hovering, descending, or passing through.
